For the first Portland E-Prix, our challenge was to get Formula E into mainstream culture, away from motorsport stereotypes and part of wider social conversations. Inspired by the city's heritage, we launched NISMO Thrifted: a sustainable streetwear collection made from upcycled NISMO and Nissan race gear.
We weren't hands on with this one. We were hands, feet, arms and legs on. From logo design to location scouting, to casting... fully remote production from across the Atlantic. We stopped short of actually making the collection ourselves and enlisted zero-waste designer Mia D’Amato to bring the collection to life.
When the collection dropped, the crowd went wild. Even Oscar-winner Brie Larson was a fan. We auctioned off the collection, with every single piece selling out and raising over $35,000 for Blanchet House, an organisation supporting people experiencing homelessness in Portland.
We smashed our targets: earned media was up by 153%, follower growth was up 149% and NISMO were the most followed team across Instagram and TikTok with over a million followers.
For context, McLaren was in 2nd with only 293K. Sorry Lando.
